Demonstrate ability to make correct and timely decisions related to aircraft maintenance performance, supervision, and certification.

This stand-alone Air Law Training Scheme from NMIT offers flexible, online study to help students develop comprehensive knowledge of civil aviation regulations relevant to aircraft maintenance certification and licensing. It is designed for practicing aircraft maintenance engineers and covers regulatory topics such as aeronautical parts, certification of products, airworthiness directives, aircraft registration, and licensing requirements. Students study independently while working, with approx. 23 hours per week self-directed learning over one year. Successful completion leads to NZQA Unit Standard 20904 and prepares students to sit NZCAA license examinations. Applicants must have relevant prior training or experience. Additional costs apply for CAA exams. This scheme is part of the pathway towards a Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer qualification.
What you need to know first
Completed recognised aircraft maintenance engineering training (Level 4 or above) or equivalent international qualification or relevant aeronautical engineering industry experience.
