The Certificate in Disability Support (Level 3) is designed for domestic and international students seeking foundation skills for working in disability support roles, or for further study in health and disability. This online programme spans 22 teaching weeks plus study breaks, and includes clinical placement experience. Core topics cover professional standards, effective communication, ethical practice, personal disability support, advocacy, maximising client independence, legal and cultural competencies. Graduates gain the NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 3) – Support Work Strand.

This course requires 20 hours per week

Communicate effectively in a culturally appropriate manner to support a person's health or wellbeing.
Domestic: 8 credits at NCEA Level 1 in English (4 in reading, 4 in writing) or equivalent
Domestic: Minimum of 3 years secondary education
Domestic: No minimum academic requirements for applicants aged 20+
International: At least 18 years of age at programme start date
International: Year 12 or 13 qualification or equivalent (including at least one science subject)
International: IELTS 5.0 (with no band less than 5.0) or equivalent, as per NZQA requirements
Students must bring their own device (laptop or tablet)
