The Bachelor of Health Science (Podiatry) at AUT develops students' clinical reasoning and practical skills to become podiatrists. The degree is the only program of its kind in New Zealand and covers the assessment, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of problems of the foot and lower limb. Extensive clinical placements in hospitals, primary health organisations, private practices, and AUT's clinic provide hands-on experience. Graduates can apply for registration as podiatrists in New Zealand and overseas and are prepared for work in the private or public sector, including specialties like sports podiatry, diabetes management, and podiatric surgery.
