With the Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Laboratory Science, you gain specialist skills in your selected area of medical laboratory science, learning to apply contemporary theoretical frameworks to current laboratory practice. The programme is designed to meet the evolving challenges facing laboratory scientists, notably new technologies, shifting diagnostic services, and the need for both evaluative/management skills and specialised research and development capabilities. It offers two pathways – management or specialist scientist – and is open to registered scientists with a current practising certificate from the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand.

Face-to-face learning in a physical classroom setting
City Campus, Auckland
It will take a total of 1 year
Integrate advanced theoretical knowledge and evaluative skills into laboratory settings to improve practice and outcomes.

Design, undertake, and critically evaluate laboratory-based research relevant to patient care (Specialist pathway).
Registration as a Medical Laboratory Scientist with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand (MSCNZ)
Current Practising Certificate as a Medical Laboratory Scientist, issued by the MSCNZ
IELTS (Academic) 6.5 overall with all bands 6.0 or higher or equivalent (for English language requirements)
