Gain understanding of vision science including optics, anatomy and physiology, pharmacology and pathology.
The Bachelor of Optometry (BOptom) at the University of Auckland is a five-year undergraduate programme covering clinical optometry and vision science. Students gain extensive knowledge in optics, anatomy and physiology of vision, ocular pharmacology, pathology, therapeutics, immunology, and business skills to manage clinical practice. The programme includes practical and clinical experience, with placement opportunities and a final-year research project. Graduates are qualified to become registered optometrists in New Zealand and Australia.

It will take a total of 5 years

Develop hands-on skills examining and treating patients through public clinic work and external placements.
Undergraduate entry requires completion of first year BSc (Biomedical Science preferred) at University of Auckland, or Health Sciences First Year (HSFY) at University of Otago.
Graduate entry criteria also available.
Shortlisted applicants must attend a Multiple Mini Interview (MMI).
