Designed for those seeking a career in midwifery, this Bachelor’s programme provides the theoretical knowledge and practical skills required to work autonomously and responsibly as a registered midwife. The programme comprises a mix of classroom-based block courses at Hamilton City Campus and regional clinical placements, with strong integration of practical and theory throughout. Graduates are eligible to sit the National Midwifery Examination, leading to registration as a midwife in New Zealand.

What you need to know first
University Entrance as defined by NZQA
NCEA Level 3, including minimum specified credits in biology, chemistry or physics, and English-rich subjects
Foundation or bridging qualification at level 4 or above, or equivalent
Comprehensive First Aid Certificate (pre-entry)
Self-declaration form (criminal convictions, health status)
Medical certificate for clinical practice
Immunisation status evidence
At least two character references (not family/flatmates)
Child safety check (Children’s Act 2014 compliance)
English language requirements for non-native speakers: IELTS 7.0 overall with minimum sub-scores, or OET at required level
