The BVScPre-Sel is the initial phase of Massey University's world-ranked Bachelor of Veterinary Science. This pre-selection component consists of a one-semester, full-time programme (60 credits). It provides foundational knowledge in biological, chemical and physical sciences and prepares students with both academic and practical skills for competitive selection into the professional veterinary programme. The degree is highly regarded globally and accredited in multiple countries. Entry to the professional phase depends on academic and non-academic selection assessments. The programme is delivered at Manawatū campus, with hands-on experiences, problem-solving, and communications training designed to meet the needs of animal and human health industries.

Face-to-face learning in a physical classroom setting
Manawatū campus, Palmerston North
It will take a total of 6 months
Show capability and academic excellence through performance in prerequisite courses and required selection assessments (CASPer, STAT, MMI).

Achieve practical insights through 40+ hours of observation/work experience in a veterinary clinic or hospital.
Recommended: NCEA Level 3 Biology (14 credits), Level 3 Chemistry (14 credits), Level 2 Physics (14 credits), Level 2 Mathematics (14 credits), or equivalent
Completion of 40 hours pre-entry veterinary practical work experience in a veterinary clinic/hospital
For international students: evidence of English language proficiency as per Veterinary Council of New Zealand standards
