Demonstrate an understanding of animal welfare requirements and carry out effective husbandry for a range of species.

Show practical competence in the safe behaviour, handling and transportation of companion animals.
This entry-level qualification provides students with the fundamental knowledge and practical skills needed to care for companion animals in both domestic and commercial settings. The course emphasises animal husbandry, welfare, basic health, handling, and professional practices. Training is supported by an onsite facility housing a wide range of companion animal species. Graduates will have core skills applicable across the animal care sector.

Completion of a health declaration and declaration of any criminal conviction to ensure fitness to practice prior to acceptance.

International applicants: IELTS General or Academic score of 5 with no band lower than 5, or New Zealand Certificate in English Language Level 3 with appropriate endorsement, or other accepted English proficiency per NZQA.
