Explain how environmental, cultural, and socio-economic systems, including landscape planning, conservation, and management, shape urban, rural, and natural landscapes.

The Master of Landscape Architecture offers both a two-year (240 credits) and a one-year (120 credits) pathway depending on your background. The programme develops advanced skills in landscape design and planning, critical thinking, indigenous approaches, and sustainable communities. The curriculum is accredited by the New Zealand Institute of Landscape Architects and supports pathways into professional registration, research or advanced industry practice. Graduates will gain experience in design, site engineering, project management, policy, and indigenous and ecological approaches to landscape architecture.
What you need to know first
240-credit option: Undergraduate university degree in any discipline; minimum 2nd class division 1 honours or 70% average in 300-level or higher courses; portfolio demonstrating design-related skills; basic competence in Vectorworks or AutoCAD or certificate of completion.

Describe and assess landscape dimensions of sustainability, human health, and wellbeing in design.

Evaluate theoretical and historical landscape designs and understand the cultural meanings they convey.
120-credit option: Accredited BLA (Bachelor of Landscape Architecture) with first class or second class division one honours.
