The Master of Architecture is a research-based programme at the University of Auckland. Students further develop their interests in architecture or sustainable design under the guidance of leading academic staff. Study is largely self-directed and supported by academic supervisors, culminating in a 35,000–40,000 word thesis. There are flexible study pathways—including a pure research or combined research plus coursework structure—tailored to individual architectural investigations. This programme is not a professionally accredited qualification and does not prepare graduates for professional registration.
