The Master of Chemistry (MChem) is designed to deepen students' expertise in chemistry, focusing particularly on analytical chemistry or materials science. Students expand their knowledge, develop practical laboratory and research skills, and prepare for careers in industrial or government laboratories or further research study. Specialisations equip graduates for commercial laboratory roles and academic progression.
Course Content
- Analytical Chemistry (specialisation courses: CHEM 740, CHEM 741)
- Physical Chemistry and Materials Science (CHEM 710, CHEM 712, CHEM 780)
- Research Dissertation (60 points) or Research Project (30 points)
- Optional courses applying analytical chemistry to other fields
- Materials Science courses from the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering (CHEMMAT 724, CHEMMAT 725)
- Completion of 8-10 taught courses
- Skill development in research and laboratory practice
