Construction
A course by
AUT
The Architectural Engineering major within the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) provides the technical and design skills to engineer high-quality, sustainable buildings—covering everything from foundations to complex building services.
In-person study
Face-to-face learning in a physical classroom setting
City Campus, Auckland
It will take a total of 4 years

Apply engineering and construction principles to design sustainable, comfortable buildings that meet future and current industry standards.

Gain supervised practical experience and knowledge of engineering-industry procedures, responsibilities, and health & safety through 800 hours of industry work placement.

This major prepares students with essential architectural and construction knowledge to develop complex, sustainable, and fit-for-purpose building designs. The four-year programme blends foundational engineering principles with advanced studies in building design, structural systems, construction materials, building modelling, and services such as HVAC and acoustic engineering. Students also complete a significant industry-based research project and 800 hours of supervised work experience, gaining first-hand knowledge of current engineering practices.
