Demonstrate adherence to workplace health and safety practices within marine environments.

Select, use and maintain appropriate tools and equipment for marine coating applications.
This apprenticeship prepares learners for roles as marine coaters or marine painters, focusing on the exterior coatings of vessels. It combines workplace-based training, online learning, and self-study over approximately 32 months. The programme covers health and safety, team collaboration, tool and equipment usage, technical and material knowledge, calculations, sustainability, painting techniques, quality control, and interpreting drawings, leading to the New Zealand Certificate in Marine Coatings – Exterior.
