Core skills this course teaches
Work unsupervised in marine vessel interior coatings
Apply skills and knowledge to perform marine interior coatings tasks independently to industry standards in new or refit vessels.

Demonstrate safe working practices in a marine coatings environment, including hazard identification and mitigation.
About This Course
With the opportunity to specialise in either exterior or interior coatings, training and assessments cover all aspects of the trade. As a marine coatings apprentice, you will work alongside experienced painters to master surface preparation, application techniques and the science behind marine-grade paints and protective coatings designed for harsh saltwater conditions.
Course Content
- Exterior strand: Focuses on hull preparation, primers, antifouling systems, topcoats and protective finishes.
- Interior strand: Develops your skills in preparing and applying coatings to cabins, joinery and living spaces.
