The New Zealand Certificate in Construction Trade Skills (Level 3) with strands in Carpentry, Scaffolding, Masonry Trades, Paint and Plaster, and Roofing offered by Manukau Institute of Technology provides practical construction skills, including operating power and hand tools, building projects, and developing core construction competencies. The qualification is designed for beginners in the construction industry without an apprenticeship, enabling graduates to enter carpentry/building apprenticeships or work as labourers under supervision. The programme includes compulsory core and strand-specific courses totaling 120 credits, offers a tool kit, and is delivered full-time over one year at MIT TechPark with February and July start dates. Entry is open, with English proficiency requirements for non-native speakers, and recognition of prior learning is available. Not open to international fee-paying students.
