Apply budgeting, cost planning, and financial administration, including whole life-cycle costing, to construction projects.

Understand and interpret construction law, contracts, and contractual risk analysis within construction projects.

Take a leading role in the construction industry with the Bachelor of Construction (Quantity Surveying) at Otago Polytechnic. This degree equips you with technical and practical skills to price and manage construction projects, analyse contracts, and drive process improvements. Studied through a mix of face-to-face, online, work experience, and self-managed learning, the programme offers strong industry connections and potential membership in the New Zealand Institute of Quantity Surveying. You’ll undertake courses in financial administration, contract law, project management, business management, and undertake a third-year research project in a construction topic. Plan and oversee the logistical and quality aspects of construction projects to ensure efficient delivery.
NCEA Level 3 including: 14 credits at Level 3 or above in each of three NZQA approved university entrance subjects, 10 literacy credits at Level 2 or above (5 in reading, 5 in writing), and 12 numeracy credits at Level 2 or above (either specified achievement standards or a package of three numeracy standards: 26623, 26626, 26627).
Applicants over 20: Evidence of industry experience and/or alternative relevant qualifications. Provisional entry possible.
International: Secondary school qualification equivalent to New Zealand's NCEA levels.
English: Academic IELTS 6.0 (no band lower than 5.5) or NZ University Entrance or equivalent.
