Understand and apply building theory in practical work situations on construction sites under the supervision of a registered employer.
The New Zealand Certificate in Carpentry (Level 4) at Wintec is a part-time, three-year apprenticeship programme for those already employed in the construction industry. Learning is conducted on-site through practical tasks at students' workplaces, complemented by seven week-long block courses over the first two and a half years, evening classes, and access to online resources. Qualified tutors support apprentices via site visits and assessment. Graduates will be trade-qualified and ready for a range of building and construction careers or further study in related trades supervision or construction management.

It will take a total of 3 years

Utilise online learning platforms and record workplace achievements using digital resources.
Reasonable likelihood of success as determined by provider.
May be required to undertake a Needs Assessment.
Must be physically able to carry out the practical components.
For non-native English speakers: IELTS 5.5 with no band lower than 5 or equivalent.
