What You're Signing Up For

The Master of Screen Arts (MSA) at Massey University is a research-focused, industry-aligned qualification for creative practitioners in areas such as animation, documentary and factual, emerging creative technologies, film production, game development, media technology, and visual effects. The programme supports multidisciplinary project development, encourages students to draw from diverse knowledge systems including mātauranga Māori, and is strongly connected to industry, with access to world-class facilities. Supervision and technical instruction are led by experienced, industry-engaged staff. Graduates are equipped to contribute to the expanding digital and screen sector in Aotearoa and globally, with skills in advanced production, creativity, and screen arts research.

University admission requirements

A relevant Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with minimum B grade average; or Bachelor of Screen Arts (Honours) with at least B grade at 700-800 level; or Postgraduate Diploma in Screen Arts with minimum B grade average; or equivalent professional and scholarly experience
