It will take a total of 17 weeks

Develop a practical understanding of digital video composition, framing, and camera operation.

Generate creative ideas through research and apply video and film theory to create narrative video sequences.

Apply editing and post-production skills including image stabilisation, subtitles, and special effects.
The Video Production Training Scheme offered by NMIT, part of Te Pūkenga, is an online Level 5 course designed to equip students with practical skills in digital video composition, editing, camera operation, storytelling, and professional practices in video production. Students explore various video styles including documentaries, short films, music videos, and social media content. The course features a flexible, project-by-project structure allowing students to manage their own time and develop essential industry skills or confidence in their hobby. Entry requires NCEA Level 2 or equivalent, with alternative entry pathways for mature students. The course awards 20 credits and runs for 15 teaching weeks plus 2 weeks study break. Fees for 2025 are approximately NZD 328 plus a $43 Student Services Levy.
