The Bachelor of Design at AUT is a three-year studio-based degree preparing students for careers in design through a strong foundation in creative, technical, and conceptual skills. Students can major in areas such as animation, communication, fashion, industrial, interaction, or spatial/interior design.

Students will develop and apply creative concepts into viable design solutions within a studio-based environment.

Graduates will recognize and apply interdisciplinary approaches, engaging with methodologies and tools from across design fields.

Study design at AUT and develop skills to turn creative ideas into reality in a collaborative studio environment. The Bachelor of Design responds to the evolving nature of design careers, with an emphasis on connections between design disciplines, mātauranga Māori, emerging technologies, and the ethical responsibilities of design professionals. The programme offers excellent facilities, industry connections, and opportunities to specialise through a major and add minors or a second major from within or outside design.
