Our Diploma in Design Tītohu mō te Hoahoa is designed for those passionate about design or seeking a pathway into further university study. Students undertake the same courses as AUT's first-year Bachelor of Design, building skills in design methods, theory, communication, creative business, and related fields. The supportive curriculum helps develop academic writing, communication, and problem-solving abilities—preparing students to progress into Year 2 of the Bachelor of Design or continue exploring specialisations such as animation, fashion, communication, spatial, industrial or interaction design. The diploma can be completed in one year full-time or part-time.

Face-to-face learning in a physical classroom setting
City Campus, Auckland
It will take a total of 1 year

Broaden understanding of various design disciplines, including animation, fashion, communication, industrial, spatial, and interaction design.
New Zealand University Entrance OR
42 NCEA credits at Level 3, including UE literacy and numeracy (10 credits in each of 3 approved subjects OR 12 credits in each of 2 approved subjects and 14 credits across 2 further subjects).
If qualifications from another country, check AUT international entry requirements.
English language: IELTS (Academic) 5.5 overall with no band lower than 5 (or equivalent).
