Develop, explore, document and communicate ideas creatively within promotional artwork contexts using a range of digital media and graphic design approaches.

The Graphic Design: Promotional Artwork Training Scheme is a 20-credit online course aimed at developing skills in creating effective promotional artwork. The course covers design principles such as composition, typography, conceptual creativity, and digital media techniques using Adobe InDesign and Photoshop. Students complete four main project assignments including movie posters, promotional posters, charity artwork, and commercial product designs. The course also includes weekly online activities supporting learning and covers theoretical aspects related to graphic design history, social and technological influences, and presentation standards. Entry requires NCEA Level 2 or equivalent academic qualifications, with alternative entry through demonstrated skills. English language proficiency is mandatory for non-native speakers. The programme is flexible for working students and is part of NMIT's Creative Industries Training Schemes, which can complement Bachelor and Diploma studies. Fees for 2025 are $328 plus a $43 Student Services Levy, indicative only and may vary with course selections. The course has 15 teaching weeks plus 2 weeks study break. Upon completion, students gain skills in idea communication, digital graphic design techniques, and historical/theoretical understanding of promotional artwork design.
