Design, implement and critically analyse research that creates new knowledge through professional educational practice.

Develop a significant creative or practice-based artefact and accompanying written exegesis, demonstrating the connection to educational research and theory.
The Doctor of Education is a practice-led doctoral qualification for experienced educators, leaders, and practitioners seeking to engage in research-driven practice. The programme includes both coursework and the completion of a substantial creative/practice-oriented artefact and exegesis. Students define their research approach, engage with research methodologies and ethics, and conduct a project that advances both theory and professional practice in education. The programme supports diversity, equity, and upholds Te Tiriti o Waitangi. Graduates advance as leaders, policy advisors, consultants, practitioners, and researchers in education and community settings.

Master's degree with honours OR Bachelor's degree with honours (equivalent to 4 years of study), with first class or second class (first division) honours

City Campus, Auckland
It will take a total of 3 years

Apply robust ethical judgement in research, with a commitment to diversity, equity, and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
Evidence of relevant creative practice (portfolio, performances, resource creation, publications)
Evidence of engagement in professional or community educational contexts
For kaupapa Māori or Pacific research: evidence of established relationships or advisory support
Minimum two years’ relevant professional experience
Supervision subject to staff availability
