This Level 6 diploma prepares you to work as an electrical engineering technician. You will learn a broad range of electrical engineering fundamentals and develop specialist skills in power systems, electronics, and control systems. Graduates can work in engineering roles supporting New Zealand's infrastructure and power distribution needs, meeting benchmarks such as the Dublin Accord. You will study at MIT's award-winning TechPark campus in Auckland with both hands-on and theoretical learning.

This is a mix of online learning & face-to-face sessions

It will take a total of 2 years

Develop technical research, oral presentation, written reporting, and technical drawing skills.
What you need to know first
NCEA Level 2, including minimum 10 literacy credits at Level 1 or above (for those who achieved NCEA Level 2 before 2013)
A minimum total of 48 credits at level 2 in four subjects including at least 12 credits in mathematics (preferably achievement standards in algebra, calculus or trigonometry)
Equivalent qualifications (eg International Baccalaureate or Cambridge) accepted
Equivalent credits from appropriate trades training and/or demonstrated skills/experience
English language: IELTS Academic overall band 6.0 with no band less than 5.5, or equivalent for non-native speakers
Physically capable of completing practical aspects of the programme
