Understand and carry out maintenance on appliances with an electrical rating not more than 250 volts, supplied by plug and flexible cord.

Competently test appliances and supervise prescribed electrical work in line with regulations.
This qualification allows holders to maintain and test plug-in appliances up to 250 volts as well as supervise work on such equipment. The course meets the theory and practical assessment components required for the Electrical Appliance Serviceperson registration, covering essential electrical knowledge, safety, regulations, and practical skills like first aid and CPR. Graduates are prepared to undertake the Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB) assessment and enter entry-level roles in appliance servicing.

Face-to-face learning in a physical classroom setting
UCOL Manawatū, Palmerston North
It will take a total of 7 weeks

Demonstrate knowledge of NZ electricity regulations, safety protocols, and the dangers of electric shock.
Necessary to pass theory examination and be assessed in regulated practical skills as set by Electrical Workers Registration Board
