What You're Signing Up For
The EWRB Practising License course is a short, intensive programme designed for those already registered with the Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB) who need to renew their practising license. Delivered by Unitec's Electrotechnology Department, an EWRB approved competence programme provider, the course focuses on New Zealand’s latest electrical safety regulations, testing, industry standards, and both theoretical and practical assessments. Programmes cater for various EWRB registration classes and successful completion satisfies the requirements for licence renewal.
Course Content
- The Electricity (Safety) Regulations 2010 and subsequent amendments
- Testing for personal safety
- Practical and theoretical assessments of 'levels of knowledge'
- Earthing requirements in AS/NZS 3000:2007
- Installation, operation, and testing of residual current devices
- Understanding short circuit current levels
- Testing, certification, and inspection processes
- Technical issues as published in the EWRB Electron
- Cardio-Pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and basic first aid
- Board requirements and procedures for supervision of trainees (incl. sections 76 and 77 of the Electricity Act 1992 and Amendment Act 2006)
