Face-to-face learning in a physical classroom setting

Recognize and classify areas that present a risk of explosion or other hazards.

Understand and articulate properties such as flammability, explosiveness, and reactivity, and their implications for workplace safety.

Be able to locate and explain potential ignition sources that may be present in hazardous areas.
This short course imparts critical knowledge for identifying and working within explosive atmospheres and hazardous areas, with particular emphasis on classifying hazardous zones, understanding hazardous materials, and the relevant duties, standards, and regulations. Students cover practical skills for identifying hazards, sources of ignition, classification of apparatus, and legal compliance. Successful participants will achieve NZQA Unit Standard 5929.
