Electrical
A course by
WITT
A practical micro-credential for electricians and related professionals to design, install, and commission grid-connected battery storage systems integrated with photovoltaic (solar) power, focused on safety, industry standards, and system optimisation.
Blended study
This is a mix of online learning & face-to-face sessions
WITT Campus, New Plymouth
It will take a total of 3 weeks

Evaluate the appropriateness of a site for grid-connected battery storage and estimate potential energy yield for clients.

Assess a client’s consumption, create load/PV profiles, and provide options to improve self-consumption of PV energy.

Determine and recommend the best battery type for various scenarios based on technical and practical considerations.
This Level 4 micro-credential is designed for registered electrical workers who want to develop the skills and knowledge to design and install grid-connected battery storage systems, especially when combined with photovoltaic (PV) systems. The flexible course includes self-paced online modules, a three-day intensive on campus, and a post-course assignment. Topics span battery technologies, safety, system design, installation, regulatory compliance, and real-world application scenarios. The qualification is NZQA-registered and endorsed by SEANZ, the Sustainable Energy Association of New Zealand.
