Discuss critically the multifunctional role of rural areas within an integrated vision of rural development.
This master's programme develops expert understanding for tackling global challenges in international rural development. Blending elements of agriculture, environment, industry, transport, and tourism, the course prepares graduates to manage and conserve natural resources, while increasing productivity and minimising environmental and socio-cultural impacts. It builds advanced capability in analysing, critiquing, and influencing policy, institutions, and management practices relevant to rural development in the global context. Students develop in-depth research skills, engage with interdisciplinary study, and undertake a significant thesis component in addition to taught modules.
What you need to know first
For 240 credit programme: Relevant New Zealand level 7 bachelor’s degree or equivalent, with B average or better in 300-level/final year courses.
For 120 credit programme: Relevant postgraduate honours degree with Second Class Honours Division One (or higher).
