The Master of Resource and Environmental Planning (MRP) at Massey University is a professionally accredited, practice-focused postgraduate degree for those aspiring to or currently practising as planners. With a curriculum that blends theory, fieldwork, guest speakers, and critical skills, the MRP prepares graduates to become highly respected planning professionals capable of responding to rapid changes in urban and natural environments. - Planning Law – legislation (Resource Management Act 1991), NZ legal system for the environment
- Planning Theory – philosophical and theoretical foundations, urban design, indigenous planning
- Professional Practice – practical planning skills, real-world issue analysis
- Mana Taiao: Advanced Māori Planning – advanced Māori planning principles and application
- Policy Analysis and Evaluation Techniques – analytical, forecasting and evaluation methods
- Urban Planning and Development – theoretical/practical approaches to urban development
- Reframing Human-Nature Relationships – sustainable resource planning, biophysical management
- Planning History – development of planning as a discipline in New Zealand
- Natural Hazards and Resilient Communities – hazard risk assessment and community planning
- GIS Principles and Applications – spatial data analysis, GIS tools and methods
- Professional Inquiry in Planning – planning-based research methods and independent inquiry
