Gain knowledge of marine and terrestrial ecosystems to act as an effective kaitiaki of Aotearoa’s natural environments.

Learn to safely drive 4WD and LUV vehicles, and operate and maintain chainsaws and brush cutters.
If you are passionate about the environment and enjoy working outdoors this course will kick-start your career in conservation. Develop your knowledge of marine and terrestrial ecosystems to become an effective kaitiaki of Aotearoa’s coastlines, bush, wetlands, and alpine whenua. Gain practical experience with 4WD vehicles, chainsaws, and brush cutters. Receive specialised training in ground pest control, and in building and maintaining conservation tracks, fences, and facilities. Graduates receive the New Zealand Certificate in Conservation (Operations) (Level 4).
What you need to know first
NCEA Level 2 with passes in English/Te Reo Māori or education achievement at least equivalent to NCEA Level 2
