This internationally recognised short course provides the mandatory STCW-10 certifications required for seafarers to work on commercial ships, cruise ships, super yachts, oil rigs and within the wider maritime industry. Over the course of one intensive week (with options to take modules individually), students complete fire-fighting, first aid, survival, safety, and security awareness training—preparing them to safeguard crew and passengers at sea. Certification is Maritime New Zealand (MNZ) accredited, meets global standards and can include initial and refresher options.
Entry Requirements
Students must be fit and capable of training for sea survival and fire-fighting.
Ability to swim and tread water (with and without lifejacket, while clothed).

Understand fire safety, use fire-extinguishing equipment, and respond to onboard fire emergencies per STCW standards.
Complete a student medical declaration.
Provide a current medical certificate or approved alternatives for medical fitness (Dive medical, Maritime NZ Seafarers Medical, MCA ENG 1).
Sufficient English skills to perform safety duties as required in accordance with international competency standards.
For refresher training: proof of recent sea service and previous STCW certification.
