Gain hands-on experience in barista, restaurant, and general beverage service within a hospitality work environment.

The Certificate in Food and Beverage Service Level 3 (Work Integrated) is designed to enhance your food and beverage skills in the workplace. It includes a training agreement involving your employer and Ara | Te Pūkenga with an individual training plan and regular feedback. Students receive on-job training and coaching from employers and industry professionals, supplemented by practical training at specialist barista labs, training restaurants, cafes, and an online barista package. Assessment is practical and workplace-based. The programme has open entry with English language requirements. Core courses include Food and Beverage Core Skills, Barista Service, and Restaurant Service. Graduates gain comprehensive skills for hospitality careers and can progress to Level 4 Food and Beverage or Diploma in Hospitality Management. The course is part-time over 18 weeks with 40 credits at NZQA Level 3. It is free if working a minimum of 20 hours per week in food and beverage and not enrolled in other tertiary programmes.
