This Barista Skills course at NorthTec provides participants with knowledge and skills to become a coffee expert, whether for personal interest or to launch a career in hospitality. The course covers essential skills and techniques required of a barista and is suitable for anyone looking to work in cafés, from casual weekend work to full-time employment. Participants are taught through both online and in-person workshops with regional support and optional access to NorthTec facilities.

What you need to know first

Must be at least 16 years old at the time the programme commences.

Ability to read, write, and communicate in English at a basic level.

Must be physically able to complete programme-specific outcomes.

Applicants for whom English is not a first language must have an IELTS score of 5.5 with no band score lower than 5; or an accepted international equivalence.
