The LCQ short course provides training for those who need to sell or supply alcohol where they work, in compliance with the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012. Delivered online or on campus, it covers unit standards on legal requirements and host responsibility as a duty manager. Learners receive comprehensive workbooks and attend an interactive theory seminar, followed by an open-book assessment. The qualification is recognised by all District Licensing Committees in New Zealand and prepares graduates to apply for the General Manager Certificate in their local area.

- Unit Standard 4646 – Demonstrate knowledge of the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 and its implications for licensed premises
- Unit Standard 16705 – Demonstrate knowledge of host responsibility requirements as a duty manager of licensed premises
