Students will be able to describe and evaluate how grape growing, location, winemaking, maturation and bottling influence wine characteristics.

Students will gain knowledge of the major still, sparkling and fortified wines, their regions and unique qualities.
The WSET® Level 3 Award in Wines is a classroom-based course delivered over 8 sessions (4 weekends) at the New Zealand School of Food and Wine. It provides in-depth analysis of wine production and principal wines of the world, along with spirits. The course includes extensive tastings, systematic wine evaluation using the WSET framework, written assessments, and a blind tasting. It is designed for both enthusiasts and those working or aiming to work in hospitality, beverage or wine industries. Graduates may use this qualification as a pathway for further study in wine and spirits.

English Requirements: NCEA Level 3, IELTS 7 or Advanced (C1) level or higher
Recommended: WSET® Level 2 Award in Wines
