Face-to-face learning in a physical classroom setting

Students will be able to identify chainsaw chain components by name and function in accordance with accepted industry practices.

Students will learn to select an appropriate safe area and use recommended tools to sharpen and test a chainsaw chain.

Students will be able to conduct maintenance checks and perform corrective actions for faults according to manufacturer and industry standards.
Knowing how to use a chainsaw is quite different from knowing how to maintain one. This course will teach you the skills you need to look after your equipment, keeping it in top working condition and safe to use. From sharpening the chain to disassembling and reassembling the entire machine, this course covers theory and practical assessments, bringing students up to current standard practices suitable for the forestry industry.
