What You're Signing Up For
This one-year, part-time Level 4 certificate is designed for both new and experienced vineyard workers wishing to step up to leadership or supervisory roles in winegrowing. The programme covers technical and practical aspects of grape growing, vineyard management, sustainable production, grape protection, and effective team leadership. It incorporates the NZ Certificate in Horticulture Production (Winegrowing strand), can be completed fully online or onsite, and requires access to a vineyard for practical tasks. Graduates gain skills needed to supervise winegrowing operations, implement sustainable horticultural practices, and support vineyard teams.

- Introductory Human Resources (supervising and motivating a team, conflict resolution)
- Winegrowing Environment (soil management, environmental technologies, vineyard layout planning)
- Wine Grape Management (grape physiology, sustainable viticulture techniques, canopy management)
- Pruning and Trellis Systems (pruning methods, trellis and training system identification, team supervision)
- Crop Protection (planning grape protection, pest/disease/weed management, evaluating protection programmes)
- Vintage Operations (harvest timing/parameters, harvest supervision, basic winemaking principles)
