Acquire hands-on experience in viticulture and winemaking processes, including the evaluation of wine qualities and scientific techniques.

Understand and apply principles of chemistry, microbiology, and fermentation related to winemaking.
The Master of Wine Science (MWineSci) is an 18-month postgraduate programme offering advanced education in viticulture, winemaking, sensory evaluation, wine microbiology, chemistry, and business principles related to winemaking. The first two semesters are delivered at the Goldwater Wine Science Centre on Waiheke Island, with the final semester offering research opportunities in collaboration with wine companies or at university facilities. As part of this 180-point programme, students will develop both practical and academic skills, and conduct targeted research addressing New Zealand wine industry needs.
