Critically select and apply a range of evidence-based practices to support people to meet their health and wellbeing aspirations.
The Diploma in Health & Wellbeing (Applied Practice – Youth Work) (Level 5) is designed for those working closely with youth in the health and wellbeing sector. This programme equips graduates with operational, theoretical and practical skills to support people and whānau with complex needs. Learners complete a blend of classroom, online, and work-based study—including 200 hours of practicum. The curriculum incorporates evidence-based practice, socio-cultural and political factors affecting youth, and Te Ao Māori, tangata whenua aspirations, with emphasis on supporting youth from diverse backgrounds. Graduates are prepared for employment in a range of health and wellbeing contexts or for further study.

This is a mix of online learning & face-to-face sessions
Manukau, Auckland
It will take a total of 44 weeks
This course requires 30 hours per week

Maintain awareness of the socio-cultural, economic and political factors impacting health and wellbeing to provide responsive support practices.
Hold a Youth Work or Health & Wellbeing Level 4 qualification OR provide evidence of successful study at Level 3 and at least 12 months professional experience in a health and wellbeing context
Disclose any criminal convictions and allow the release of New Zealand Police information for placement purposes
Be able to work or volunteer in a Youth Work setting
Be assessed by AGI as suitable for the Youth Work sector
Have access to a computer and the internet
Special admission: 20+ years old, at least 18 months work experience in health and wellbeing, endorsed by 2 workplace referees
