Acquire essential knowledge about dementia and how to effectively communicate with people affected by dementia.

Develop and apply skills to provide care that recognises the unique needs and dignity of people living with dementia.
The Dementia Care (LCP) Level 4 is a workplace-based programme that supports caregivers in gaining the essential knowledge, skills, and attitudes required for supporting people with dementia. Accredited for meeting the requirements of the Age-Related Residential Care Services Agreement (ARRC) 2022, it consists of four unit standards covering communication, person-centred care, understanding and managing the effects of dementia, and responding to challenging behaviours. The programme is TEC funded and relevant to those working in specialist residential dementia care settings.
What you need to know first
Must be employed as a support worker in a health, disability or aged support organisation
Must have New Zealand citizenship (including Cook Islands, Niue, Tokelau), permanent residency, work permit/work visa, Australian citizenship, or hold refugee status in New Zealand
