About This Course
This micro-credential equips health and safety practitioners with the essential skills and knowledge to foster mentally healthy work within their organisations by enhancing understanding of psychosocial risk as a form of health and safety risk. Through 50 hours of online study, participants explore foundational theories, legal obligations, frameworks, measuring and managing risk, and practical strategies to improve workplace mental health. The course is delivered entirely online and includes recorded lectures, activities, readings, and optional live Q&A sessions.

- Introduction to mentally healthy work: psychosocial factors, psychosocial risk, outcomes; work content and context
- Frameworks and foundational theories for understanding psychosocial risk
- Mentally healthy work in Aotearoa: a Te Ao Māori perspective
- Health and Safety at Work Act: Requirements, roles, responsibilities in psychosocial risk
- Measuring to manage psychosocial risk: gathering data and insights
- Systems approach to managing risk: psychosocial interventions and controls
- Designing interventions for psychosocial risk
- Using good practice to inform an organisational strategy for mentally healthy work
Entry Requirements
Currently working in a health and safety role or a role with a health and safety component (e.g. human resources with responsibility for health, safety, and wellbeing).
