About This Course
The New Zealand Certificate in Information Technology offers practical training in IT support and systems, combining real-world case studies and projects with technical learning. You’ll work with industry-standard tools, gain essential troubleshooting, security, and network skills, learn how IT supports business operations, and develop professionalism and collaborative skills for today’s tech sector. The course is delivered fully online with the option of studying part-time. Scholarships are available to cover tuition fees for eligible students.
Course Content
- Introduction to Information Technology: Key components of information systems, hardware, software, and networking selection and evaluation, IT security and emerging technologies via case studies.
- Information Technology in Business: Development lifecycle models, data models to improve business, accessible and user-focused digital media, UX and UI principles.
- Programming Essentials: Hands-on program planning, coding, testing, documentation, foundational programming tools.
- Professional Practice in Information Technology: Professionalism, critical thinking, collaborative projects in simulated IT environments.
- Practical labs with hardware and software including HWiNFO, CPU-Z, Microsoft Office, Windows, Linux, PC Building Simulator.
- Security solutions using simulated case studies and business technologies.
- Development of professionalism, teamwork, and IT decision-making.
- Comptia A+ practice labs and e-books access.
Entry Requirements
NCEA Level 2 or 3 with credits in mathematics and digital technologies
or skills gained through study, work, and/or life experience
or New Zealand Certificate in Computing (Intermediate User) (Level 3)
or New Zealand Certificate in Computing (Advanced User) (Level 4)
or New Zealand Certificate in Information Technology Essentials (Level 4)
If English is not your first language: IELTS 5.5 or equivalent
