The Security sector is booming throughout New Zealand as organisations aim to keep staff, customers, and clients safe during changing and sometimes challenging times. This programme serves as an introduction to the security industry, teaching practices, laws, roles, security technology and equipment operation, health and safety, physical fitness, conflict and stress management, emergency incident response, and First Aid certification. It includes 30 hours industry placement shadowing in event or retail security environments, and may enable graduates to achieve the Ministry of Justice security Certificate of Approval (COA), allowing legal employment in security. Career outcomes include security guard, VIP protection, corrections officer, concierge, and patrol officer. Delivery is blended with in-class sessions at Manukau and Hamilton campuses.
