Core skills this course teaches
Communicate confidently in te reo Māori
Listen and speak te reo Māori most of the time, enabling effective communication in a range of settings.
Use formal and informal Māori language
Utilize both formal (ōkawa) and informal (ōpaki) language appropriate to context.
Apply tikanga Māori
Demonstrate understanding and application of cultural practices, mōteatea, waiata, and karakia.
What You're Signing Up For
This te reo Māori programme develops your ability to speak and understand te reo Māori across everyday and formal contexts. You'll be supported by experienced kaiako, participate in practical learning such as noho marae, and gain confidence to communicate effectively most of the time in a variety of settings. The certificate is set at NZQA Level 4, and offers pathways to more advanced immersion study or roles where knowledge of te reo Māori is valued.
