This certificate provides learners with the skills to understand main points and some specific details of moderately complex oral and written texts on familiar academic topics, participate confidently in sustained spoken discourse, and write clear, connected texts in an academic context. Students will develop the English language proficiency necessary for academic participation and workplace communication in New Zealand. Entry requires basic English skills or equivalent qualifications, with additional criteria for non-native speakers. The programme is delivered online with regional support and optional local workshops. It is not open to international students. The course provides pathways to higher English qualifications and other level 4 study and training programs.
