Learners will gain foundational knowledge and awareness of te reo Māori, suitable for use in everyday contexts and to support whānau or community roles.

Graduates can participate in maintenance and promotion of te reo Māori within whānau, hapū, iwi, and community contexts.

Learners will be able to exchange basic information and ideas in te reo Māori relating to daily routines and familiar social encounters.
Te Pōkaitahi Reo (Reo Rua) (Level 2) is a part-time or full-time programme designed for beginners to develop a basic understanding of te reo Māori. Delivered through blended online and classroom learning (mainly evenings for part-time), it equips students to use te reo Māori in everyday and community contexts, complementing their current employment or whānau life. Successful completion leads to Te Pōkaitahi Reo Māori (Reo Rua) (Kaupae 2), and supports progression into more advanced te reo study.
