Gain fundamental knowledge of mechanics, thermodynamics, engineering mathematics, and computational modelling relevant to mechanical systems.

Use engineering principles and computer-aided tools to solve real-world mechanical engineering problems and create mechanical designs.
The Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Mechanical) at Ara Institute is a three-year degree designed to equip students with a deep understanding of mechanical engineering concepts, focusing on mechanical design, development, and implementation. In the first year, students build skills in computing, mathematics, management, and engineering sciences before progressing to advanced mechanical topics and industry-aligned projects. The degree is fully accredited by Engineering New Zealand and recognised internationally under the Sydney Accord. Graduates are prepared for careers across manufacturing, energy infrastructure, construction, and other sectors, and are eligible to join EngNZ as graduate members.
