About This Course
The Graduate Diploma in Publishing (Applied) provides practical, full-time training in the process of publishing through real-world projects, industry partnerships, and two work placements. Students work in teams to take manuscripts from concept to finished product, acquiring skills in editing, project management, typesetting, publicity, and all aspects of producing print and digital publications. The programme is delivered in partnership with the Publishers Association of New Zealand (PANZ) and taught by publishing industry practitioners, with regular guest speakers and extensive engagement with real publishing clients.

- Planning and promoting a publication (including manuscript assessment, market research, costing, scheduling, marketing and distribution)
- Production from idea to printed or digital publication (including writing, editing, typesetting, supervision of design and print)
- Project management for publishing
- Team-based publication work
