The Postgraduate Diploma in Rural Clinical Practice (PGDipRCP) is suitable for generalist doctors working in rural and provincial hospitals. It provides specific advanced medical skills and knowledge, complementing or extending general practice training. The diploma consists of core and elective papers in rural and hospital medicine topics and directly supports the RNZCGP Rural Hospital Medicine Training Programme. The program is offered part-time (2 years expected completion), including flexible options through distance learning.

Adapt and apply medical knowledge and skills to address the unique challenges of low-resource and geographically remote practice environments.
Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (or equivalent medical qualification)
Registration for medical practice in the country in which the programme is taught
Commenced vocational training for rural hospital medicine or general practice, or at least two years approved experience in rural hospital medicine or general practice
Subject to Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Health Sciences) approval
